DayDestinationDescription
Days 1-2Siena to DievoleSpend some time exploring Siena before stepping out into idyllic Tuscan landscapes. Follow rural tracks across patchwork hills and past stone-walled olive groves, vineyards and oak forests to Dievole. A 16th century villa, once home to Florentine nobility, offers shelter for tonight.
Day 3Dievole to Gaiole-in-ChiantiCross a valley to the fortified Romanesque church of San Polo in Rosso. Perched on a hill above sun drenched vineyards, the 1000 year old church and castle were fought over by Siena and Florence for hundreds of years. From here, follow the path to Gaiole-in-Chianti, an ancient trading town.
Days 4-5Gaiole-in-Chianti to PanzanoFollow the trail along a ridge before descending to the valley. Continue past stone farmhouses and vineyards to the hill town of Panzano. Enjoy a rest day within its ramparts or take an optional walk to Greve-in-Chianti, a busy centre devoted to the world-renowned wines, where it is possible to sample some Chianti Classico.
Day 6Panzano to Strada-in-ChiantiTuscany's charms are fully displayed on this stroll along undulating paths, fertile valleys and past two fine castles. Walk uphill to Strada-in-Chianti, a small town situated on the northern edge of the famous wine region, where a room in a beautiful 17th century villa awaits.
Days 7-8Strada-in-Chianti to FlorenceTracks and strade bianche lead through farmland before reaching the outskirts of Florence. This final walk along minor roads and pathways leads to a magnificent panorama of the city. Descend into Florence and cross the elegant Ponte Vecchio to arrive in the heart of Tuscany.
