There are plenty of museums and churches to visit, and the treasures within give an idea of the city's prominence during the Middle Ages. | | Day 3 | Colle Val d'Elsa to Monteriggioni | A pretty winding road through wide open pastures makes for an easy ride to Monteriggioni. Enter the city walls, under the watchful gaze of the towers, and you can take a step back in time attending a workshop showcasing ancient Italian trades such as leatherwork. | | Days 4-5 | Monteriggioni to Siena | The road to Siena passes through classic Tuscan countryside - rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards and the occasional castle. Cycle the crooked cobbled streets into the heart of the city - the Campo - and take in this beautiful, lively piazza, perhaps with an ice-cream cone in hand. Your final day will be easily spent exploring the marvellous sights and well-stocked shops. |
