Wander the narrow medieval streets and hear the sounds of the Fado (traditional emotion-laced singing). The city is rich in history and monument but also possesses a vibrant city pulse. Discover the Sao Vicente de Fora monastery, marvel at the tile-covered building facades and be tempted by the myriad of flavoursome aromas leading to the cafes of the Bairro Alto district. Lisbon - the "white city" - is a joy to explore. On this walking journey we also explore the stunning coastline close-by Lisbon. The secluded Portinho beach, the dramatic hills and sweeping panaromas afforded from the Serra Arrabida range and the calm fishing village of Sesimbra. A highlight to anticipate is the old town of Sintra a popular day trip from Lisbon since the time of the Moors! Clinging to the slopes of the Serra de Sintra it is a marriage of location and architecture befitting its World Hertiage listing. We will visit the most westerly point in Western Europe and at Cape Espichel we can imagine the sailing ships of the great navigators embarking on their quests and dream of the golden age of discovery.
