Delta Adventure
The Okavango Delta is one of the most remarkable habitats on earth. An oasis of greenery in the arid lands of northern Botswana, wildlife gathers here in great numbers, and the many waterways offer unforgettable game viewing opportunities from mokoro dugout canoes. As well as the Okavango you?ll see the stunning expanse of the Makgadikgadi Pans, explore the sacred Tsodilo Hills with their numerous San Bushman paintings, and cross into Namibia to visit two remote National Parks. Leaving Botswana, the tour ends at the spectacular Victoria Falls.

Itinerary:

Day 1, VICTORIA FALLS Arrive and make your own way to the hotel. (D) Day 2, CHOBE NATIONAL PARK We leave the Falls behind and cross the border into Botswana, one of the most 'untouched' countries in Africa. Heading for Chobe National Park, we enjoy an afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River, looking for wildlife on its banks. (LD) Day 3, MAKGADIKGADI PANS A long drive today as we head for the Makgadikgadi Pans. If conditions allow, we drive onto the pans to appreciate the boundless open space. We then head to our accommodation and take a short hike to a nearby waterhole, where we hope to see elephants. (BLD) Day 4, KHWAI RIVER After breakfast we join local San Bushmen for a walk and have a chance to experience some of their traditions and lifestyle. We then head for the impressive wilderness area of the Khwai River. After arriving, we go on a night game drive to have the chance to spot some of the more elusive nocturnal creatures, not normally seen in the day. (BLD) Day 5-6, KHWAI RIVER AND MOREMI GAME RESERVE We spend two full days on game drives, exploring both the Khwai River area and Moremi Game Reserve, known as one of the most beautiful and varied reserves in Africa with an unprecedented concentration of wildlife. Chances of spotting lion, leopard, buffalo and elephants are excellent. (BLD) Day 7, MAUN We head back to Maun. Should you wish, there is the option of a scenic flight over the delta. (BLD) Days 8-9, OKAVANGO DELTA Today we head for the world's largest inland delta - the Okavango. With speedboats we transfer to our base in the delta, where we spend the next two nights surrounded by wilderness and the sounds of animals and birds. We take a mokoro trip through the waterways, discovering the variety of wildlife, and also have a guided walk on one of the islands, hoping to spot elephants, waterbuck or any of the other creatures that call this place home. A real highlight of the trip. (BLD) Day 10, TSODILO HILLS Leave the verdant wetlands of the delta behind and head to the Tsodilo Hills, one of the most significant rock art sites in the world and a sacred place for San Bushmen communities. We explore this mystical site on foot. (BLD) Day 11, MAHANGU NATIONAL PARK AND POPA FALLS We enter Namibia and travel to Mahangu National Park, which lies on the western banks of the Okavango River and is one of Namibia's most captivating areas. We spend this afternoon on a game drive hoping to spot some of the numerous species which live here, and also visit Popa Falls. (BLD) Days 12-13, KWANDO RIVER AND MAMILI NATIONAL PARK Drive along the Caprivi Strip to the Kwando River and take a game drive through Mudumu National Park. On day 13 we visit Mamili National Park, Namibia's answer to the Okavango Delta. We experience its remoteness, beauty and wilderness hoping to spot some of the animals it is famous for such as elephant, lion, buffalo, giraffe, crocodile, hippo and spotted-necked otters. (BLD) Day 14, VICTORIA FALLS Leave the wilderness behind and drive back to Victoria Falls. The rest of the day is at leisure to visit the falls or take part in any of the adventure activities, such as bungee jumping, white-water rafting and elephant back safaris, that the town is so famous for. (BL) Day 15, VICTORIA FALLS Tour ends. (B)
