SILVERSEA CRUISE : 7 Nights from BARCELONA TO LISBON:
Gaudi & Picasso
Just back from Spain and Portugal where we sailed on the beautiful Silversea Whisper (386 guests, all inclusive, great individual service and wonderful cuisine).
Starting in Barcelona, we visited Gaudi's unfinished La Familia Sagrada Cathedral and The Picasso Museum. After boarding the Whisper, we hosted 39 guests with a welcome private cocktail reception onboard the first evening while sailing from the Barcelona Harbour.
Our beautiful itinerary included stops in Formentera (small island off Ibiza) , Next port was Valencia where we also hosted a private full day tour of Old Valencia, and the modern City of Arts and Science in an amazing setting. Cartagena, Spain was the next port, then on to Malaga, with over 300 days of sunlight per year.It was one of the foremost merchant centres in the Iberian Peninsula and the home of Pablo Picasso.
Our final port was Lisbon where we overnighted on board while we explored this wonderful, vibrant City which has been almost completely rebuilt since the Earthquake of 1755. The Tower of Belem, on the waterfront, the old cobblestone section of the city and the Castle fortress high over the city with breathtaking views of the old and newer city areas.
After sadly disembarking from our beautiful home for the week, we checked into the Ritz Four Seasons in Barcelona overlooking the city. Service and accomodations were outstanding and Sunday Buffet breakfast was truly and elegant experience.
On our last day we boarded the local train from Lisbon down the coast past Estorile to Cascais, a charming bustling seaside vacation area where we had lunch overlooking the sea and the beachgoers from many different countries that were there on their summer holiday. We were invited to a site inspection of the ALBATROZ Hotel and Villa ALBATROZ, both members of the part of the Leading Hotels of the World. The view of the sea and the atmosphere there was no doubt you were in EUROPE . We wanted to just check in and live the moment.
