Effective immediately, emergency limitations have been created to ensure your safety onboard all domestic or international flights.  These limitations were created by the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration, which describe exactly what items can be brought on board the aircraft and what items are prohibited.

Please visit the DHS/TSA release for the latest information.    http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/threat-change.shtm

UPDATED PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS

  • On January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document.
  • As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.

You may also wish to visit the US Department of State website to familiarize yourself with the quickly changing requirements.  If you are, or plan to be, a frequent cruiser, obtaining a passport may be a good solution--they are relatively easy to obtain and are valid for 10 years for adults.

U.S. Citizens can also register with the  US Department of State which allows you to record information about your upcoming trip.  Travel registration is a free service provided by the U.S. Government to U.S. citizens who are traveling to, or living in, a foreign country. The Department of State can use this information to assist you in case of an emergency at home or abroad. Americans residing abroad can also get routine information from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
