"I joined ASWA to meet with other women accountants, share ideas, earn CPE credits and form friendships." - Barbara Talbot
The Austin, Texas Chapter of ASWA has a two-fold history. The Chapter was chartered November 4, 2001; it was previously active in the 1980’s and 90’s. Our members are from a broad spectrum of accounting and financial fields. Many members are accounting professionals, with a CPA certificate, however that is not a requirement for membership. Members work in public and private accounting, or may manage their own businesses. Areas of interest include internal and external audit, telecom, government, recruiting, financial consulting, financial systems, and other industries.
The Austin ASWA Chapter is part of the national organization of over 100 other ASWA Chapters throughout the United States with more than 4,000 members. The national organization of ASWA was formed in 1938 to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting and finance. Membership has been open men since 1974.
The mission of ASWA is to enable women in all fields of accounting and finance to achieve their personal, professional and economic potential and to contribute to the future development of their profession.
