Mention code 6067652 | | Intrepid Travel | | | | Day | Destination | Description | | Day 1 | Ubud | Bali's artistic centre overflows with artisans selling handicrafts, wood carvings and metalwork. Arrive early to browse their wares, explore nearby villages or see the surrounding countryside by bicycle. | | Day 2 | Kuta, Lombok | Stock up on snacks from street vendors for the long ferry ride to Lombok. Once there, bask on the stunning beaches of Kuta (not to be confused with its touristy Balinese namesake), swim in the sapphire waters or discover local Sesak culture. | | Day 3 | Tetebatu | Flag down a bemo (minibus) for a ride to our hill retreat in Tetebatu. Stop at traditional villages along the way to watch local craftsmen at work, making woven baskets, clay pottery, colourful sarongs or Sasak silverware. | | Day 4 | Sapit | Wake before dawn to get great views of sunrise over Mt Rinjani. After a short ride in cidomos (horse-drawn carriages) and a spot of shopping at the local Sapit market, trek through quaint villages to a nearby canyon for panoramas of emerald rice paddies and a glimmering blue sea. | | Days 5-6 | The Gilis | Stretch those legs with a leisurely walk to the lovely Singang Gila Waterfall, before taking a boat to the laid-back island of Gili Meno. There's plenty of time here to play Robinson Crusoe on the isolated shores, learn to scuba dive or spot turtles and reef sharks while snorkelling. | | Days 7-8 | Denpasar | There's time for a final, invigorating dip before the boat leaves for the mainland. Flying into Denpasar, head out for one last taste of Indonesia before saying 'selamat tinggal'. |
