Day 1Salt Lake CityWelcome to Salt Lake City! After landing at the airport, you'll be whisked away to your hotel. Meet your Tour Director this afternoon and start exploring on your own. This evening, join us for a Kick-off Party at the hotel.Hotel: Sheraton City Centre
Day 2JacksonPut on your cowboy hats, pull up your boots, and get ready to create memories that will last a lifetime. Heading north, skirt the Great Salt Lake and enter Wyoming for your first encounter with the mighty Rocky Mountains. Follow trails blazed by rugged mountain men centuries ago as you explore sweeping valleys and high mountain passes. Cross the famous Oregon Trail and follow the historic Snake River to the authentic Old West town of Jackson. Passing through the town's famous landmark arch of tangled elk antlers, walk back into history as you explore the Town Square with its western boardwalks, craft shops and ice cream parlors-all surrounded by the majestic Rockies. Come nightfall enjoy a special treat: a western-style chuckwagon dinner and show. (Full Breakfast / Highlight Dinner)Hotel: Antler Inn
Day 3Yellowstone National ParkThis morning, as an option, perhaps rollick down the Snake River on a fun and educational wilderness float trip. Later, continue north along the dramatic Grand Teton National Park mountain range and into the world's first national park: the world-famous Yellowstone. This is truly a wonderland of over 10,000 geysers, fumaroles, hot springs, mud pots and steam vents-highlighted with a visit to Old Faithful, which has been faithfully spouting steam water every hour for thousands of years. At the Visitor Center, learn amazing facts about Yellowstone and kids have a bit of fun earning their Junior Ranger Badge. (Full Breakfast)Hotel: National Park Lodges
Day 4Yellowstone National ParkEarly morning is the best time to spy on some of the shy creatures that inhabit the forest. On a morning wildlife walk, search for the more than 60 species of mammals including bear, beaver, bison, marmot, elk and moose, as well as 200 species of birds. Your senses will be assaulted by the roar of steam, the thunder of a spectacular waterfall, the bellowing of bison, the smell of sulfur pools and awe-inspiring views at every turn-sights and sounds that make for an experience you'll be talking about for years. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 5SheridanLeaving Yellowstone National Park, travel down, down, down into Shoshone Canyon and the rugged Absaroka Mountains until you reach the rustic, charming Old West town of Cody, named after Buffalo Bill Cody. Here, in the "Rodeo Capital of the World," explore the enormous Buffalo Bill Historical Center and the world's largest collection of western artifacts…perhaps witness a shootout next to the Irma Hotel…and poke around the Indian Village. Then, head west over the Bighorn Mountains to Sheridan, a city steeped in western history, surrounded by dramatic mountains and wide open spaces. (Full Breakfast)Hotel: Holiday Inn Sheridan
Day 6KeystoneRide east into the famous Black Hills where George Armstrong Custer and the 7th Cavalry discovered gold in 1874, sparking the last major Indian War on the Great Plains. In Deadwood, relive the times of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane and see where Wild Bill was shot while playing poker. Arriving in Hill City, board an authentic 1880 steam engine train and travel to Keystone at the base of Mount Rushmore. This evening watch the moving ceremonial lighting of its famous stone carvings before retiring to your hotel. (Full Breakfast)Hotel: White House Resort
Day 7KeystoneOur first stop is Bear Country USA, a wildlife park featuring the world's largest private collection of American Black Bear. Enjoy the leisurely 3-mile drive through this spectacular and unique wildlife park nestled on 250 acres. Then, there is time to walk-through the Wildlife Center where young and smaller animals frolic in their outdoor exhibits. Later, we visit Mt. Rushmore National Park. You may have seen pictures of Mt. Rushmore National Monument, but they pale in comparison to seeing this majestic site in person. It took 400 artisans 14 years to carve the 60-foot sculptures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt out of the mountain. Nearby at Thunderhead Mountain is the world's largest sculpture: the Crazy Horse Memorial. A work in progress for over 50 years, it will measure 563 feet high and 641 feet wide when completed. Chief Crazy Horse himself never allowed any photographs of himself and was secretly buried in a hidden grave. The monument is dedicated to his spirit and the spirit of Native Americans. Then it's off to The Holy Terror Miniature Golf Course for a golf tournament. Named after the last active gold mine in Keystone, the course will have you screaming "mulligan" as you putt around gold-flecked boulders, up steep hills, down through the mine slew and around the water wheel and bubbling stream. Returning to Keystone, there is time to relax or take a plunge in the hotel's swimming pool. Come nighttime, join us for a farewell dinner. Toast to your adventures of the past week and share memories of your Wild West vacation that you'll cherish for a lifetime. (Full Breakfast / Dinner)
Day 8Depart DenverFollow the trail to old Fort Laramie, the best-known milepost on the Oregon Trail, where you can still see 150-year-old wagon wheel ruts cut deep into the soil by thousands of pioneers heading West. At the fort's living history exhibits, gain a deeper understanding of the harsh and often unforgiving world of the pioneer family as they fought distance, geography and weather to reach Oregon…and the native tribes who gave their lives trying to prevent it. Your Wild West adventure ends at the Mile High city of Denver where stops are made at Denver International Airport or, if you're extending your stay at the Adam's Mark Hotel in the heart of Downtown Denver. (Full Breakfast)Please do not schedule any flights before 8:00pm
