    CANCUN, MX – Real Resorts, a privately owned luxury hotel company in Mexico, is leading the campaign to create a ‘super’ hygienic atmosphere for guests at its resorts in Cancun and the Riviera Maya.  Each of the four Real Resorts is working with local authorities and area hotels to create a ‘sanitary barrier.’  Within this barrier there is intensified and ongoing cleaning with sanitizing products in all hotels, buses, taxis, restaurants, bars, and airports in addition to the other measures already taken by the Mexican government to contain the further spread of the flu virus.   

    In addition, at each of the Real Resort Properties -- THE ROYAL in Cancun, Gran Caribe Real in Cancun, and THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen and Gran Porto Real in Playa del Carmen -- the company has incorporated further precautions to provide a safe environment.  One additional guest service is the placement of sanitizing hand lotion around the hotels for staff and guest use, as well as adding hand sanitizing lotion as a guest room amenity.

    “We consistently make cleanliness, hygiene and guest health our top priority whether or not there is public attention to these issues,” said Fernando Garcia, General Director, Real Resorts.  “During this period of heightened awareness we will continue our diligence and increase as many practical measures as possible to help prevent the spread of any illness through human contact.  Of course, we understand that during this initial timeframe there may be some guests who prefer to postpone their trip and that is why we are offering them an opportunity to rebook their holiday for a later date,” added Garcia.

    Real Resorts is offering guests booked for travel now through May 10th the choice of rebooking their travel for any future date through December 23, 2009, honoring the same rate of their original booking.  Or guests booked through May 10th may also elect to cancel their stay without a penalty.

    “We are encouraged by yesterday’s report in the Los Angeles Times that indicates that as the strain of flu impacting Mexico and the U.S. runs its course, it appears to be a more mild strain of influenza than originally anticipated,” adds Garcia.  If this report proves to be accurate, we are assured that visitors will soon be returning to Mexico to enjoy their summer holidays with confidence of having a healthy and fun vacation.”

    Sandos Playacar Riviera offers a luxury all-inclusive option for your next carribean vacation.

     

    The recently opened, all-inclusive Sandos Playacar Riviera Hotel & Spa offers a luxury all-suite property in the heart of Mexico's Riviera Maya just 45 minutes south of Cancun.
     
    The new resort sits right next to its sister property, the Sandos Playacar Beach Resort & Spa, and about 15 minutes from the Sandos Caracol Beach Resort & Spa and its upscale Select Club luxury section. The resort's three-story buildings extend down from a sumptuous lobby building towards the beach.
     
    Sandos Playacar BeachGuests staying at the Playacar Riviera can eat and drink at any of the other Sandos properties in the area, a fun complex where families, couples of all ages and singles are welcome. Other Playacar Riviera attractions are its proximity to the town of Playa del Carmen, its ferry boat station—with hourly departures to the island of Cozumel—and its popular Fifth Avenue, a lively pedestrian street featuring shops, restaurants and bars where travelers can find beach wear, shoes, and distinct arts and crafts among many other varied merchandise.
     
    For golfers, the Playacar championship golf course is located nearby surrounded by residences and other area resorts.
     
    Spain-based Sandos Hotels & Resorts opened its first Mexico property, the Caracol Beach & Spa, in May 2006. This was the former Gala Resort, one of the pioneers in the area, which was totally rebuilt. Its 1,300 rooms include the Select Club area, designated as a "hotel within the hotel" targeting the upscale market and featuring hacienda-type accommodations right on the beach.
     
    The Playacar Beach opened shortly thereafter on a new construction on a white-sand beach near ancient Maya ruins, which were left intact and are now surrounded by the property's tropical gardens. Last year the Playacar Beach underwent a three-month renovation. It reopened last December with 460 rooms completely upgraded, with a new Italian restaurant and bar.
     
    Playacar Riviera offers a multi-functional resort-complex where guests can move around with ease to find different kinds of recreational options and services any time of the day or night (a company vehicle is also on hand to take guests to neighboring Caracol)."We decided to further develop our all-inclusive brand on the Riviera Maya with the opening of the Sandos Playacar Riviera Resort & Spa," says Jacques de Paep, director of sales and marketing for Sandos Hotels & Resorts."We wanted to take advantage of the region's growth in popularity, especially among couples, families and leisure travelers seeking active vacations, the most beautiful beaches in Playacar and exceptional value for the money."
     
    The new all-suite resort also meets the needs of repeat guests seeking upscale facilities along with the consistent service with which they are already familiar. "We want to compete in a market that grows more selective each day," De Paep says. "We want to be successful with our investors, and get a positive feedback from our clients."
     
    Sandos Hotels & Resorts owns another property in the Canary Islands, a Spanish territory off the coast of Africa in the Atlantic, and is building a 460-room beach property in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. According to De Paep, the company has further plans involving other areas of Mexico, such as Los Cabos, where it's looking to start new projects that could include hotels as well as residential developments.
     
    ACCOMMODATIONS: Playacar Riviera features 400 junior and master luxury suites decorated in bright tropical colors. Each features a complimentary mini-bar stocked with mineral water, soft drinks, fruit juices and beer. In addition, Beach-Front and Royal Club suites come with a VIP mini-bar stocked with top quality liquors. Junior suites are furnished with two double or one king-sized bed, as well as a sitting area with a sleeper sofa.
     
    The rooms open to a terrace or balcony. Master Luxury Suites can accommodate up to six guests (two adults and up to three children, for example) in a large room and a sitting area plus a separate day room, which comes with a second bathroom, sitting area and full bar, as well as an outdoor terrace with Jacuzzi and separate shower. All suites come with a plasma TV, coffee maker, clock radio with alarm, telephone, iron and ironing board, Internet access and in-room safe. Some suites have connecting doors for large families to use.
     
    DINING: Three restaurants on the property feature international dishes served buffet style and another offers Asian cuisine. There's also a snack bar adjacent to the large lagoon-style pool. Another five restaurants offer Italian, Mexican, International, Mediterranean and buffet-style fare at the adjacent Playacar Beach.
     
    Three of the latter specialty restaurants require reservations. Judging by the dishes tried at the international buffet restaurant as well as in the Asian eatery, the cuisine at the Playacar Riviera is top of the line. It features a variety of tropical fruits, meats and eggs, as well as Mexican chilaquiles for breakfast; a wide choice of tasty dishes, such as salads, pizza, hamburgers, fresh fish, steaks and chicken with rice or pasta for lunch; and tempura shrimps, among other Far East delicacies, for dinner. Room service is also available 24 hours a day.
     
    For Select Club guests, Sandos features a complimentary 24/7 room service menu with light morning breakfast fare, light meals during the day and late night snacks. Select Club guests staying at Sandos Playacar Beach Resort and all visitors of the Sandos Playacar Riviera can get 24/7 room service by ordering from the room service menu, which offers a wide variety of options.
     
    PUBLIC AREAS & ACTIVITIES: The hotel is built around a huge plaza that features a lagoon-style swimming pool and a swim-up bar with snacks and drinks. A separate pool for kids is also available. Watersports include windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, snorkeling, in-pool scuba diving lessons and use of boogie boards. Two lighted tennis courts, a multi-sports court and a video arcade room are also open for guests. Nightly entertainment is available in an open theater, which is covered when it rains, and there's also a discotheque, all part of the all-inclusive program.
     
    Other daily activities included are aerobic classes, beach and pool games, water aerobics, water polo, beach volleyball, pool volleyball, water basketball and bicycle tours (adults only).The resort's Kid's Clubs offer supervised activities for different age groups, from babies to teens.
     
    Additional services can be arranged for guests including babysitting, massage and beauty parlor services; golf at the nearby Playacar Golf Course; and other excursions such as deep sea fishing, visits to archaeological sites like Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza (two hours away in the state of Yucatan), the Xcaret and Xel-Ha ecological parks, and scuba diving and snorkeling trips (visit www.rivieramaya.com). Prices vary according to activity.
     
    SPA FACILITIES: The full-service 23,000-square-foot Sandos Spa features 22 treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, two Jacuzzis (one hot and one cold), wellness program, thermal circuit, hydro-therapy zone, beauty salon on three levels, eco-massage area in an outdoor palm shelter, and a fully-equipped gym with rooms for spinning, floor Pilates, yoga and aerobics. An extensive menu of massages and body treatments are available. Use of the fitness equipment, sauna, steam bath and Jacuzzis is free to all guests; spa treatments are available at an additional cost.
     
    Treatments include Shiatsu, Thai Massage, Caribbean Breeze massage, Mysterious Turkey body wrap, Indian Magic massage, Lights from Morocco massage, Polynesian Dance massage, and the Touches From Australia massage. Treatments are not included in the resorts' all-inclusive rates.
     
    RATES & PACKAGES: Wedding, honeymoon, vow renewal, romantic, and spa packages are available with extra perks, except for the spa, as part of the all-inclusive program. A romantic package available year-round includes bathrobes and slippers to use during the couple's stay, welcome fruit basket and a bottle of wine, in-room romantic toast each evening, nightly turndown service with rose petals, a special menu for two at one of the a la carte restaurants with special VIP service, 15 percent discounts for treatments at the spa, 10 percent discount on motorized watersports, including banana boat rides, jet skiing and parasailing, and a framed photo of the couple.
     
    Wedding ceremonies also can be arranged through the services of a wedding coordinator at the extra cost of $1,100 for a "Wedding Your Way" package and $1,900 for a "Wedding of Your Dreams" package. These include a full wedding ceremony with decoration, flowers, services of a judge, paperwork, photographs, wedding cake and sparkling wine, plus discounts, room decor and other romantic details, including a variety of gifts, and champagne breakfast in bed the first morning following the ceremony.
