Shanghai/Beijing Trip Itinerary:



Monday, Oct. 18th: Fly from Atlanta to Shanghai, China's bustling and modern financial center situated at the delta of the Yangtze River.

Tuesday, Oct. 19th: After arriving in Shanghai, we'll be transferred to our hotel. The evening is free to spend as we please.

Wednesday, Oct. 20th: Explore Shanghai. In the afternoon our tour will give us a more intimate insight into life in Shanghai. We will visit a farmer's market, a kindergarten, a clinic and a local family to see how they live.

Thursday, Oct. 21st: Full day tour of Shanghai including the Museum, Yu Yuan Gardens, the Old Town, and the Bund. This evening, we will see a dazzling performance of the world famous Chinese acrobats.

Friday, Oct. 22nd: Full day shopping at Shanghai's famous antique market, Nanjing Road and other shops of interest you might want to visit.

Saturday, Oct. 23rd: Fly to Beijing and arrive in the morning. This afternoon we journey to the Summer Palace, built as a retreat for the Machiavellian Dowager Empress, with its famous Marble Boat in a lovely setting of lakes hills and pavilions. Evening is free.

Sunday, Oct. 24: Visit the wonderful Beijing “Dirt Market” in the morning and the famous Silk Alley Market in the afternoon This evening we will be treated to a special Peking Duck dinner.

Monday, Oct. 25: A full day excursion with lunch takes us to the incredible Great Wall, which extends for over 2000 miles. We will also visit the Ming Tombs, burial site of the Ming Dynasty's royalty. Entrance to this sacred burial ground is via the Avenue of the Animals along which large statues stand guard.

Tuesday, Oct.26: A full day sightseeing tour visiting the Forbidden City, the secluded and guarded home to the Emperors of China. In front of the Forbidden City is Tiananmen Square, at 98 acres, the largest public square in the world. A visit to the 15th -century Temple of Heaven shows us where the Emperors, as sons of heaven, made offering for the harvest.

Wednesday, October 27th: We'll have a full day to enjoy Beijing on our own! Optional tours will be available for anyone who doesn't want to spend their last moments filling their luggage with all the bargains!!

Thursday, October 28th: Today after breakfast we will bid farewell to “magical” Beijing as we board our return flight home.
