Cave Hill Extension

Our Anangu hosts at Cave Hill, deep in the desert across the South Australian border, are the traditional Aboriginal landowners. They are responsible for maintaining the chapter of the Songline that lies within the boundaries of their traditional homeland, and they teach us their history and show us ancient cave paintings. This site is, perhaps, the home of the most significant rock art in Central Australia. Drive through the red dirt and through the beautiful Musgrave Ranges to Mount Woodroffe, the highest mountain in South Australia. Around a campfire our hosts tell us stories about Wati Ngintaka, the "giant perentie lizard man". Camping under the incredible outback sky is the perfect way to spend our time in the desert.
