Mexico & The Guatemalan Highlands

Our short overland adventure through Guatemala and Mexico starts in the charming colonial town of Antigua and heads into the Guatemalan Highlands. We explore beautiful Lake Atitilan and Panajachel and take in the sights of the colourful indigenous market at Chichecastenango. Over the border in Mexico is another colonial gem - the town of San Cristabal de Los Casas and its surrounding indian villages, all waiting to be explored. The jungle ruins of Palenque are our first introduction to the early Mayan civilization followed by the site at ancient Uxmal. A little further on is the modern day city of Merida, capital of the Mexican province of Yucatan from where we visit the most famous ruins of them all - Chichen Itza. From here it is a short drive to the white sandy shores of the Caribbean and the holiday resort city of Cancun.
