Beautiful walking, impressive ruins, stunning coastline and mountains, clear blue lagoons and a balmy year-round climate on the Turquoise Coast of Turkey.

The combination of stunning scenery and numerous ancient sites makes the south coast of Turkey the perfect place for some fine coastal and inland walking. We can visit the famous sunken city of Kekova by sea kayaks, the remains of the Lycian city of Arycanda, as well as ruins nearer to Kas. Our base for the week is the charming town of Kas which has a wide range of restaurants and a lively harbour. For the active there is the chance to go scuba diving, paragliding or take a cruise aboard a gulet, which takes us over the clear blue waters for which this enchanting area of Turkey is renowned.A A The Shortlist - Read the report about Turkey's great activities (09 October 2008).

Itinerary:

Day 1 Start Kas. 2 Limanagzi Day Walk, with orientation to discover Kas. 3 Daywalk or optional full day sea kayaking Kekova (in the winter we will travel by boat). 4 Cavdir to Usumlu village. Walk following Roman Aqueduct, still in use in places. 5 Arycanda Historical Site, afternoon walk to mountain village of Yazir. 6 Daywalk in Patara National Park, visiting the aqueduct and the superb beach. 7 Free day: optional diving or local exploration. 8 End Kas.

Mode of travel: Travel by minibus, local boat, kayak (optional). A reasonable level of fitness required for the walks.
Group size: Min. 6, max. 16, plus leader and appropriate local staff.
