MONOGRAMS 2009: CRUISING THE GALAPAGOS WITH PERU & PACIFIC RAINFOREST (ISZB)
18 days from Quito to Lima
Travel to the Pacific Rainforest for three nights at the all-inclusive Arasha Rainforest Resort & Spa. Enjoy guided tours of the primary and secondary forests, birding and orchid tours, a chocolate-making demonstration, fishing, native jewelry-making classes, and much more. Visit with one of the most colorful indigenous groups in Ecuador, the "Colorados," and learn of their ancient traditions and religion. After guided city sightseeing in Quito, fly to the Galapagos for five days of cruising aboard the Santa Cruz. Stops include Cerro Dragon, Bartolome, Puerto Egas, Rabida, North Seymour, and Santa Cruz Islands. Each day, travel ashore to the remote islands with your expert Naturalist who introduces the unique fauna living free and fearless of man. Giant Tortoises, Galapagos fur sea lions, marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies, frigates, and finches are some of the species you will find on land. Explore the waters where you will find tropical fish, playful sea lions, and maybe even an equatorial penguin or shark! Also visit the Charles Darwin Research Station. Next, fly to Lima and enjoy guided city sightseeing before flying to Cuzco for guided city sightseeing with visits to the Monastery, Cathedral, and Sacsayhuaman. In Pisac, visit with locals and buy local wares before visiting the Incan fortress of Ollantaytambo. A train ride brings you to Machu Picchu. After a morning at leisure in Machu Picchu, return to Cuzco followed by a free day in Lima.
