Have your flight boarding pass and photo ID ready and available for the agent prior to passing through the security check-point. Rules are constantly changing and it may not be necessary to show your photo ID. Although, if you're unsure, just have it ready. Also, be prepared to take your shoes off. Lay all purses and other bags flat on the screening belt.
Put metal IN your carry-on bag. This includes jewelry, loose change, keys, mobile phones, pagers, and personal data assistants (PDA's)
Take OUT your laptop computer. Place it in a bin, separate from its carrying case.
Take OFF your outer coat. Place it in a bin. Suit jackets and blazers do not have to be removed, unless requested by the screener.
