On this 9 day cruise along the southeastern coast of Alaska you will visit popular destinations where you can take leisurely strolls, shop and sightsee, before dropping anchor in a peaceful cove for a quiet evening. You will have the opportunity to get up-close and personal with the native wildlife: look for humpback whales and marine mammals and enjoy seeing bald eagles, cormorants, tufted puffins, loons, and Pacific sea birds right outside your cabin window.
Cruise the rugged shorelines and remote bays of Alaska's Panhandle in comfort aboard the MV Island Spirit. She was originally built as an oil supply vessel but was completely rebuilt and repowered in 2002 to carry 32 passengers in 16 well-appointed staterooms. Arrive in Wrangell, Alaska and check into your hotel overlooking the harbor. Choose to stroll in town, sightsee or shop for souvenirs.
Day 2
Zarembo Island
After breakfast, depart on a jet boat tour up the Stikine River, view the magnificent scenery and the many glaciers. Also search for wildlife, including moose. Return for lunch aboard the Island Spirit, then go shopping or touring in town before departing for anchorage at St. John Harbor on Zarembo Island.
Day 3
Hobart Bay
This morning you will cruise through the amazing Wrangell Narrows, stop for a visit in the town of Petersburg, then move on to our anchorage in Hobart Bay. Take an evening stroll on the beach or relish the serenity of the bay by kayak.
Day 4
Ford's Terror
Watching for the humpback whales will be a priority today as you travel north to view the Dawes Glacier. Spend time among the icebergs, watching the glacier calve and looking for the newborn harbor seals. Tonight, the Island Spirit will anchor inside the rarely visited Ford's Terror. Wildlife you will see here should include bear, deer and mountain sheep.
More wilderness today as you visit Tracy Arm and make your way to Juneau. Take a tram ride to Mt. Roberts and slake your thirst with a cold one at the Red Dog Saloon.
Today you will enjoy the sights of Juneau, shop, see the famous Alaska State Museum and take a tour of one of the gold mines. Try your luck panning for gold. Evening anchorage at Funter Bay.
Day 7
Fish Bay
This morning, take a tour through the Icy Straits and look for humpback whales and other wildlife. Stretch your legs in the community of Tenakee Springs before moving on to anchor in Fish Bay, Peril Strait.
Arrive this morning in Sitka. Enjoy a city tour-to include many of the Russian sites and the Alaska Raptor Center. See the local Russian dancers, shop, visit the museum or Totem Park. Tonight enjoy a gala farewell dinner aboard the Island Spirit.
Day 9
Disembark and transfer to airport
Transfers to airport for flights home or to Anchorage for extended tours.
