DayDestinationDescription
Day 1PassauWe begin our journey in the historical university city of Passau, also known as the 'City of three Rivers', where the mighty Danube meets the Inn and the Ilz. Departure from Passau is scheduled for late afternoon.
Day 2ViennaArriving in the majestic Austrian capital of Vienna shortly after lunch, there will be the opportunity to take in some of the city's world-famous sights, such as Schoenbrunn Palace, the State Opera and the gardens of Belvedere Castle. Departing Vienna in the evening, we continue down the Danube to Budapest.
Day 3BudapestWe reach the historical Hungarian capital just after midday, leaving plenty of time to explore the two sides of the city - old Buda, standing majestic with its Castle and fortifications - and Pest, dominated by the imposing neo-gothic Parliament building.
Day 4BratislavaDay four of our journey takes us into Slovakia, and to the historical and political centre of Bratislava. Spanning both sides of the Danube this city was the capital of the Kingdom of Hungary under the Habsburg Monachy until the 18th century.
Day 5KremsLeaving Slovakia behind, we cruise into Lower Austria, and the stunning wine-producing region of the Wachau. This stretch of the river, between Krems and Melk, is a Unesco heritage sight, noted for its stunning architecture and agricultural history. There will be a chance to visit Duernstein, the 'Pearl of the Wachau', as well as the wonderful baroque Abbey at Melk. Our journey then continues back into Germany.
Day 6PassauArrival back in Passau is scheduled for around 7am this morning.
