Newly built in 2001, and refurbished annually, the MV Casanova is a deluxe ship, carrying 96 guests in 48 staterooms. She is distinguished by staterooms on her upper deck, which have full-length opening French doors (staterooms on the lower deck have large windows). Original works of art can be found throughout. All double staterooms are identical in size (there are two lower-deck junior suites) and are beautifully appointed with built-in wardrobes, desk, shower and toilet, television, telephone, radio, hairdryer and terry robes. For all 2008 cruises, smoking will only be permitted on deck.

The ship serves six meals daily (breakfast, morning bouillon, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and late supper). All meals are single seating in a non-smoking dining room with seven-course evening meals (up to nine courses on selected nights). Additionally, there is a bar, Panorama Restaurant, and lounge as well as an infirmary with a qualified doctor on board. The Sun Deck has plenty of deck chairs and blankets, if needed. Captain's Welcome and Captain's Farewell Receptions are provided as well as nightly entertainment and dancing. There is one crew member for every 2.5 guests. This allows for a high level of service as well as sumptuous food, served course by course for the evening meal.

Day 1PassauEmbark the ship in Passau and depart for Regensburg at 4pm.
Day 2RegensburgIn the morning visit Regensburg - the capital of Upper Palatinate, a bustling university town and one of Bavaria's cultural centers. The city began to flourish in medieval times and the old town, stretching the banks of the Danube, is evidence of this period. You will have the opportunity to join a guided walking tour starting with a visit to the Walhalla and continuing in Regensburg. This excursion lasts about 3 hours. In the afternoon the Casanova will call at Kelheim, where an optional shore excursion takes you to the hall of liberation, the 'Befreiungshalle' on the Michelsberg, before traveling to Weltenburg where you will visit the the famous and oldest Bavarian Benedictine Abbey. Please not that this excursion includes several walks and lasts about 3 ½ hours.
Day 3BambergArrive in Bamberg at noon and explore the ancient seat of the bishopric and the ancestral home of the Franconian emperors. One of the most impressive cities in Germany, Bamberg boasts many buildings of historic interest. Join and optional shore excursion and tour the historical area around the famous imperial cathedral, the New Residence and the 'Horseman of Bamberg'. Afterwards, continue on to Nuremburg, where a guided tour starts with the coach ride to the castle. From here, you will walk through the romantic old town. You will have some time at leisure to explore the city on your own before you re-board the vessel. This excursion lasts about 3 hours.
Day 4WurzburgThe historic bishopric of Wurzburg on the river Main is now the capital of Lower Franconia. Surrounded by sloping hills covered with vineyards, Wurzburg is a hub of the wine trade and a manufacturing center. Today's optional shore excursion takes you past the cathedral, the 'Neumunster' church, the 'Marienkapelle' and the old town hall. The excursion lasts about 3 hours. After a one hour coach ride you will reach, Rothenburg on the Tauber, a small but thriving 17th century town that has developed around the ruins of two 12th century churches which had been destroyed by an earthquake. During this tour through the city you will pass the parish church of St. Jakob and the market square before you reach the city hall. You will also visit the 'Plonlein', an idyllic part of Rothenburg, before the coach brings you back to Wurzburg. The excursion lasts about 4 hours.
Day 5AschaffenburgThis charming village is set amid the most scenic backdrop of mountains and forests along the Main River. The town is famous for its impressive Renaissance-style Castle of Johannisburg, which graces the bank of the river. Join an optional shore excursion around Aschaffenburg and see the monastery church of St. Peter and Alexander, the oldest church in the city. You will also see the half-timbered buildings around the market square as well as the castle Johannisburg, a late renaissance structure that was built between 1605 and 1614. The excursion lasts about 2 hours.
Day 6HeidelbergOn today's optional shore excursion you will visit the Heidelberg castle, one of the noblest examples of German Renaissance architecture. During the exterior inspection, you will see the inner court as well as the splendid garden. From the large terrace you will have an especially picturesque view onto the river Neckar and the city. Another highlight is the "big barrel", which was set up in 1751 and holds a capacity of almost 60.000 gallons. A pipe connects it directly with the Royal Hall. Afterwards you will enjoy 1 1/2 hour guided walking tour into the remarkable old town. Among other things you will see the famous Karl-Theodor-bridge with its two-tower gate as well as the Heiliggeist-Church (1400 - 1441 AC), once burial place of the counts of Palatine. Please note that this excursion has longer walking distances and lasts about 3.5 hours.
Day 7LudwigsburgArrive at noon in Ludwigsburg where you can participate in a shore excursion. During this walking tour you will see the market square with well and monument of the city's founder, the Holy Trinity Church and the birthplaces of Justinus Kerner and Eduard Morike. You will visit Ludwigsburg Palace, which was completed in 1704 and is with 452 rooms in 18 buildings the largest Baroque ensemble in Germany. To round off this experience you conclude your visit with the palace gardens, where the garden exhibition Baroque in Full Flower shows you magnificent examples of highly sophisticated garden architecture from different periods and regions. Please note that the total walking time will amount to about 3 hours.
Day 8StuttgartDisembark the ship in Stuttgart.
