Hotel: The Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites | | Day 2 | Halifax | Halifax sightseeing & at leisure : Originally settled by the British in 1749 as a counter-measure to the French settlements in the area, Halifax quickly became one of the most important strategic outposts of the British Empire. Today, an appealing blend of new and old, Halifax remains the dynamic and colorful center of Nova Scotia with its tree-lined streets, a thriving traditional waterfront next to modern towers of glass and steel, and many excellent restaurants, shops and attractions. This morning we explore several points of interest on our city tour, including a visit to the Citadel National Historic Site. Here we learn about daily life, hundreds of years ago, in this great hilltop fortress and take in the sweeping views over the city and harbor from its massive walls. The afternoon is yours to enjoy. Why not join our optional excursion to picturesque Peggy's Cove? Next we travel to historic Sherbrooke Village, a living museum depicting a late 19th century Nova Scotian village. Step right into the past at the wood turner shop, the blacksmith, the pottery shop, the village courthouse, a makeshift jail and the residences of both rich and poor. Later we cross the Canso Causeway, built with over 10 million tons of rock more than 50 years ago, to Cape Breton Island, one of the most beautiful and dramatic islands in North America. Traveling north we arrive in the little village of Baddeck on the shores of charming Bras d'Or Lake. (Full breakfast/ Dinner)

We stop at Shediac Bay where we join a private lobster Highlight Lunch cruise exclusive to our group. Our local lobster fishermen crew will tell us about this traditional delicacy and the methods used in lobstering while enjoying an onboard lobster lunch prepared in the traditional New Brunswick way (weather permitting).
