Stop for a WINE TASTING in famous Chateuneuf-du-Pape on your way to Avignon. Here, walk to the magnificent Palace of the Popes and the bridge of the popular song, and have plenty of time for lunch and to browse through the little shops. Next, stop in Pont du Gard for pictures of the famous 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct, a monumental feat of engineering completed in the year 19 BC, before arriving in Nimes for your overnight stay. (B,D) | | Day 6 | Nimes | (Wed.) Highlight this morning is an excursion to Arles, the city where Van Gogh painted more than 300 canvases. Your orientation features the famous Roman amphitheater. Afternoon and evening at leisure. (B) | | Day 7 | Nice | (Thu.) The morning is dedicated to Aix-en-Provence, one of France's most elegant cities. Explore its center on foot, stroll along shaded Cours Mirabeau, admire its famous cafes and fountains, and discover colorful squares. Later, head east past Cezanne's Mount St. Victoire and drive through Cannes, where you will see the Festival Hall and the Croisette on your way to Nice, the sophisticated 'Queen of the Riviera.' An optional excursion to Monte Carlo is available. (B) | | Day 8 | Nice | (Fri.) Enjoy this enchanting resort on the Cote d'Azur at your own pace. Browse through the elegant shops or stroll along the Promenade des Anglais. Join your Tour Director for a walk through the OLD TOWN and its colorful flower market, and you may wish to join an optional excursion to the famous artist town of St. Paul de Vence. Air booked in conjunction with a land vacation is considered an air-inclusive vacation. Air can only be booked by Globus in conjunction with a land package and is only available for passengers traveling from the United States. For vacation departures in 2008, your final air-inclusive vacation price is guaranteed when your air schedule had been confirmed and your entire vacation package has been paid in full. For vacation departures in 2009, an additional $250 non-refundable deposit (total $500 non-refundable) is required for air booked in conjunction with any land vacation and your final air-inclusive vacation price is guaranteed when your flight information is confirmed and Globus has received your full land and air deposit.
