Los Cabos
Mexico
The Rugged Haven

At the very end of the Baja Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez meet, is a unique Mexican beach resort -- Los Cabos, consisting of two towns: San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. San Jose, a 200-year-old town with low-lying houses, central plaza, and sedate setting, is more traditional and "old" Mexico. Cabo San Lucas, in comparison, is modern, with plenty of shopping and bustling activity day and night.

Almost everything in Los Cabos involves natural beauty. There are isolated beaches, desert landscapes, unique rock formations, and scenic bluffs. Sporting opportunities include deep-sea fishing, fascinating dive sites. Over the last few years, Los Cabos has become a world-class golf destination. The Senior Professional Tour now has the Los Cabos Senior Slam as part of its regular tour. With five beautiful golf courses within a 20-mile span of oceanfront landscape, it's easy to see why every year more and more golfers come to Los Cabos to play these professionally designed courses.

What to Do

Stroll on the beach and take in the scenery. From January through April, you could catch sight of hundreds of whales. Anglers should plan one or more days fishing, since Los Cabos is known for being a natural "fish trap," and for its variety of fish.

Dining and Entertainment

Lucky at sea? Some restaurants will prepare your day's catch, and serve it with rice and vegetables. Other fresh catches will be prepared, as seafood tops the menus in most Baja restaurants. For a different type of evening, try a Mexican fiesta -- including a lavish buffet, folk dances, and more.
