Upon arrival you are greeted in the traditional Polynesian way-with a warm aloha and a lei of fresh flowers. Transfer to your hotel in Waikiki. The remainder of your day is at leisure. | | Day 2 | Honolulu | (Sat.) A breakfast get-together with your Tour Director to review activities scheduled throughout your stay. The balance of the day is free to relax, swim, enjoy water sports, or laze on the beach. Take the optional excursion to the Polynesian Cultural Center for authentic island arts, crafts, history, music, a dinner buffet, and a spectacular Polynesian show with more than 100 performers. This evening, enjoy an optional sunset cruise with dinner, Hawaiian cocktails, and splendid views of the glittering Waikiki coastline and Diamond Head. (B) | | Day 3 | Honolulu | (Sun.) Begin with a tour of PEARL HARBOR'S famous Battleship Row. Listen to a narration of the dramatic air attack of December 7, 1941, and visit the USS Arizona and the impressive MEMORIAL dedicated to the 1,102 men still entombed. You will also have an opportunity to visit the MUSEUM, an excellent way to learn about Pearl Harbor Day, the Japanese strategy and military craft, and the individuals involved in the attack. Then, on to Punchbowl National Cemetery and Honolulu Lookout. Other sights include Chinatown, the Hawaii State Capitol, royal 'Iolani Palace, and the statue of Kamehameha the Great. Tonight, a wonderful evening of dining and entertainment awaits! See the most popular show in Waikiki, the SOCIETY OF SEVEN, with an evening of classic impersonations, comedy acts, Broadway show tunes, and today's popular hits! (B,D) | | Day 4 | Honolulu-Kona | (Mon.) Transfer to the airport for your morning flight to the "Big Island." Upon arrival, visit the KONA COFFEE LIVING HISTORY FARM. You will have an opportunity to learn and experience the history of Kona's coffee industry and the remarkable story of the pioneers who established these farms. Then, transfer to your oceanfront resort on the sunny west coast of Hawaii's largest island, where the total land mass is more than twice the combined area of all the other islands. This evening, enjoy a lavish LUAU feast, then sit back and watch the captivating Polynesian revue of dancers and musicians. (B,D) | | Day 5 | Kona | (Tue.) Today, circle the island as you visit HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK. See Kilauea Crater, rising 4,090 feet above a volcanic wonderland of steaming fire pits, lava tubes, and fern forests. Lunch at the Volcano Golf and Country Club, then head back along the scenic Hamakua Coast through Parker Ranch to arrive back at the hotel. (B,L) | | Day 6 | Kona | (Wed.) Today you decide the pace. You can opt to relax at your splendid seaside resort, do some independent sightseeing, or enjoy one of our optional excursions. For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, take an optional helicopter flight over Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and see the magnificent active lava flow. (B,D) | | Day 7 | KONA-MAUI | (Thu.) Transfer to the airport for the short and scenic flight to Kahului on the "Valley Island" of Maui. Drive to the lush 'IAO VALLEY to see the 'Iao Needle, a spectacular volcanic spire, then to Lahaina, once a whaling center and the capital of the Hawaiian monarchy. Continue to Maui's resort area of Ka`anapali, your home for the next two nights. (B) | | Day 8 | Maui | (Fri.) Activities abound and your Tour Director is on hand to help you plan your day. The day is free for you to enjoy at leisure. Join the optional excursion to Haleakala National Park, site of the huge volcanic Haleakala Crater, known to islanders as the "House of the Sun." The park is in a setting of stunning natural beauty, ranging from cinder cones to dense rainforest. In 1980, this fragile native ecosystem was designated an International Biosphere Reserve. You have plenty of time in the afternoon to relax and enjoy your resort's facilities. From mid-December to mid-April a humpback whale-watching cruise is available. This evening, your Tour Director hosts a special farewell dinner. Wonderful conversation and cuisine make the perfect finale to a memorable Hawaiian vacation! (B,D) | | Day 9 | Return Home | (Sat.) For vacation departures in 2009, an additional $250 non-refundable deposit (total $500 non-refundable) is required for air booked in conjunction with any land vacation and your final air-inclusive vacation price is guaranteed when your flight information is confirmed and Globus has received your full land and air deposit.
