The fleet of small ships, many carrying fewer than 100 passengers, travel remote waterways where only small ships can travel. You won't find the elaborate distractions that larger ships provide. Rather, small ships are perfect for intimate exploration of off-the-beaten track waterways, narrow channels and tiny ports that passengers on large ships will never see.

A casual style on board all of our vessels encourages relaxation and congenial interaction between guests and crew alike. And the experience is personally enriching, through on-board narrative and lectures, special local guests from a wide variety of backgrounds, and the library provided on each vessel.

Rather than making a beeline from port to port, our Captains have the flexibility - and the inclination - to linger when whales are putting on a show, a glacier is calving spectacularly, or to seek out sea otters when a nearby fisherman radios the word.

With Cruise West you'll find a crew that enjoys the travel adventure as much as you. You're treated as a family member from the moment you step aboard. The Captain in his wheelhouse is often available for casual conversation, to view the depth finder and radar screens or pore over the charts. The Chef and his staff prepare delicious meals, fresh-baked breads and sumptuous dessert. And your on-board Naturalist Guide is always at hand, eager to share insights and knowledge, answer your questions and organize the day's events. Other cabin amenities unique to the Spirit of Oceanus include a walk-in closet or wardrobe, a large marble vanity and sink, and a lounge area. Each suite also features an in-room safe and minibar plus satellite telephone access.

Every stateroom features a wide picture window or porthole, private facilities, and a TV monitor/VCR. And when it's time to go outside, guests enjoy ample outside space on three decks.

Dining Set menus at each meal with three choices for main courses. Lunch is usually soup, salad and sandwiches. Hor d'oeuvres are served before dinner. Breakfast is self-service with eggs, cereal and bacon. Special dietary requests can be handled at time of booking.

Activities Most activities are based on outdoor activities and nature.
