Lisbon

Lisbon's most revered son was Prince Henry the Navigator, who sent intrepid explorers out to conquer half the known world. After the terrible earthquake of 1755, Lisbon was rebuilt on the gracious baroque lines you see today in the Baixa District. The proud capital of what was once a great empire recalls past glories from splendid 18th century palaces and stately buildings.
