Kas is an idyllic seaside village on the Lycian coast, nestled in a beautiful setting between the mountains and the sea. Kas occupies the site of ancient Antiphellos, which gained importance as a port town during the Hellenistic period and sustained its significance as one of the leading towns during the Roman period as well. Most of the ancient settlement is now covered by the modern town of Kas but reminders of its past are scattered throughout this tourist resort.

On the sheer rock mountain wall to the northeast of town are the spectacular Lycian rock tombs. These Doric-style graves, formed mostly by carvings into the rocks, have figures of women carved onto the walls to the entrance, and stand as remarkable historical works of art. To the west of town sits the ancient theater. One of the most well-preserved features of the ancient city, the theater was constructed of local limestone and today the tribunes and outer walls are still visible. The theater possesses a remarkable view over the bay to the island of Kastellorizo. Tombs of the Roman period are scattered about the town and along the coast. A Lycian sarcophagus in the center of town and remains of the ancient walls near the shore provide further highlights of the town's history.

The charm of the ancient town remains; visitors pleasantly stroll through the streets stopping at quaint teahouses and restaurants and browse local shops while fishing boats and yachts sit quietly in the tranquil harbor.
