2010 Valdez By Car with Rail
Valdez by Car overnights in Anchorage, Valdez, Glennallen, Fairbanks and Denali. In Valdez, visit a tidewater glacier on the Columbia Glacier cruise. Time in Glennallen can be used to venture into the Wrangell St. Elias National Park. The main park visitor center is just 10 miles south of Glennallen. In Fairbanks, gold panning and a traditional miner's lunch is included. After dropping off the car, luxury railcars take you to Denali National Park. The Denali Tundra Wilderness Tour is included and provides an opportunity to spot wildlife and see Mt. McKinley. The tour ends with a luxurious rail journey to Anchorage for one last night.

    Day 2ValdezAnchorage - Valdez: 299 miles : Today, drive east to Valdez. On a clear day, enjoy picturesque views of Mount Drum near Glennallen. Overnight Valdez.
    Day 3ValdezValdez : Enjoy a Columbia Glacier Cruise highlighting Prince William Sound's abundant wildlife. A light lunch is included in your tour. Overnight Valdez. (L)
    Day 4GlennallenValdez - Glennallen: 119 miles : Drive north and enjoy the scenic views of the Chugach National Forest and Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve on the Richardson Highway. Don't miss the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve Visitor Center outside of Glennallen. Overnight Glennallen.
    Day 5FairbanksGlennallen - Fairbanks: 249 miles : Travel north to Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway. Enjoy lovely views of Summit Lake inches away from the road. Also, don't miss Rainbow Ridge about halfway into your drive! Overnight Fairbanks.
    Day 6FairbanksFairbanks : Before turning in your rental car today, enjoy a visit to the Museum of the North at the University of Fairbanks. Overnight Fairbanks.
    Day 7DenaliFairbanks - Denali : This morning, we'll transfer you to the rail station, where you'll board luxurious railcars. The afternoon and evening are yours to explore the park. Overnight Denali.
    Day 8AnchorageDenali - Anchorage : Watch for wildlife on the Tundra Wilderness Tour that takes you into Denali National Park and the Mt. McKinley viewpoint at Primrose Ridge. Then board luxurious glass-domed railcars for your journey to Anchorage. Overnight Anchorage.
