Board the deluxe motor coach for the transfer from the airport to your London hotel. After check-in, freshen up and rest a little, then get acquainted with your tour group during the "Welcome to Europe/Get Acquainted" dinner at your hotel. (Dinner) | | Day 3 | London | London Start the day with a panoramic tour of London's popular sights, such as the Houses of Parliament with Big Ben, Hyde Park, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, and Buckingham Palace, where you may be able to watch the Changing of the Guard (subject to weather and special events). Spend the rest of the day doing what you like. One way to get around in London is to purchase a double decker hop-on/hop-off day pass (approximately GBP 20 and valid until 6:00 p.m.), giving you access to popular sights at over 90 stops! These passes include a 30-minute Thames River Cruise as well. Stop at the famous Harrods department store or Madame Tussaud's with its life-like wax figures. The metro system in London is amazingly easy, fast, and economical if you have a specific destination in mind. The tour manager will offer an optional "Tower of London & Thames Cruise" excursion. Dinner is independent, allowing you to plan your schedule around your interests. You may want to attend a play or musical. Until 6:30 p.m. the discount ticket booths on Leicester Square offer same-day tickets for a wide variety of shows. (Breakfast) | | Day 4 | Paris | Paris After breakfast, travel under the English Channel and into Paris in less than three hours with the high-speed Eurostar train. Upon arrival in Paris, catch your first glimpses of this thrilling city, as you transfer to the Opera District. Use your first few hours in Paris to sightsee, shop the fashionable boutiques, or visit the Louvre Museum (9 admission fee). Transfer to the hotel for check-in and overnight. Dinner is independent this evening, providing the opportunity to try some of the wonderful cuisine famous to this city. An optional "Paris Dinner and Cabaret Show" excursion may be available tonight. (Breakfast) | | Day 5 | Paris | Paris Enjoy a full free day to discover Paris. In the morning you might join the optional "Seine River Cruise" excursion, offering a 1-hour boat ride on the legendary River Seine with views of Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower. Spend your day admiring the art works at one of the world-class museums (the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays and other museums are closed on Mondays, but you will have the chance to visit the Louvre on Day 4). You may decide to climb the steps of Montmartre where street artists still display their works. You will have plenty of time to walk along the classy Champs Elysees, and shopping enthusiasts will be thrilled with the selection of boutiques and larger department stores surrounding the Opera. For your independent dinner, venture out on your own or join the "Paris Evening" optional. (Breakfast) | | Day 6 | Lake Lucerne | Burgundy Region - Lake Lucerne Region Depart Paris early for a full day of travel, which will be rewarded with a two-night stay in the Lake Lucerne Region of Switzerland. Bid a fond farewell to the "City of Lights" as your motor coach takes you through the Burgundy Region of France. During your lunch stop today, you will have time to savor some of the wonderful cuisine known to this area. After pausing briefly at the French/Swiss border, the scenic lakes and mountains of Switzerland come into view. The hosts at your peaceful, mountain village hotel in the Lake Lucerne Region will serve a late dinner immediately upon arrival. (Breakfast, Dinner) | | Day 7 | Lake Lucerne | Stans - Lucerne - Lake Lucerne Region First, stop in the old village of Stans at the foot of the mountains. Bring your camera if you decide to take the optional "Swiss Mountain" excursion. Tour the city of Lucerne with its Old City Wall and famous Lion Monument. The rest of the day is yours to explore, shop for chocolates and watches, or simply relax in this glorious setting. Venture out for dinner on your own, or join the optional "Swiss Lake Boat Ride & Dinner" excursion. (Breakfast) | | Day 8 | Montecatini | Gotthard Pass - Lake Lugano - Montecatini The village church bells break the silence of the night and welcome another day of travel into the beauty of the Swiss Lake District. The 11-mile-long St. Gotthard Tunnel provides a short route south toward Italy. Before crossing the border, make an early lunch stop in Lugano, often referred to as the "Rio de Janeiro of the Old Continent". As you cross the border, the mountains give way to the beautiful countryside of northern Italy. In the late afternoon you reach your two-night retreat in the spa resort town of Montecatini-Terme. Your bags will be checked into your rooms as you relax over dinner in the hotel restaurant. (Breakfast, Dinner) | | Day 9 | Montecatini | Pisa - Florence - Montecatini After breakfast and a short drive, you will be standing in front of the amazing and intriguing Leaning Tower of Pisa. Next, you will travel to Florence. Start your free time by treating yourself to a delicious "gelato" (Italian ice cream) on the Ponte Vecchio, a gathering place for Florentines and visitors alike. Then, marvel at the architectural masterpieces on the nearby Piazza del Duomo. After a fulfilling afternoon of sightseeing in Florence, Montecatini welcomes you back with pastel-tinted buildings on palm-lined streets. (Breakfast) | | Day 10 | Rome | Rome - Anguillara Sabazia (near Rome) Leaving Tuscany, drive south toward Rome. In the early afternoon, arrive at your charming hotel in Anguillara Sabazia, an authentically Italian provincial setting 45 minutes north of Rome. Check in, take in the lovely surroundings, and freshen-up before the motor coach brings you into Rome for an afternoon of independent sightseeing. The best way to become familiar with this vibrant city is on foot. Walk from the center of Rome to Trevi Fountain, discovering the architecturally beautiful churches, fountains and piazzas. Dinner will be independent this evening, or join the tour manager for the "Rome Dinner" optional excursion. After dinner, return to your peaceful country hotel retreat in Anguillara Sabazia. (Breakfast) | | Day 11 | Rome | Rome - Anguillara Sabazia (near Rome) As you arrive in Rome this morning, you are constantly reminded of history, yet firmly aware that this is a vibrantly modern capital. During your city tour, a local guide introduces you to sights such as the Trajan and Roman Forums, the Arch of Constantine, and the Colosseum. After the sightseeing tour, you have time to explore Rome on your own. The tour manager will offer a halfday afternoon optional excursion to the "Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel". Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. This evening, your hotel will prepare a Farewell Dinner, allowing a final opportunity to share tour experiences with your fellow travelers.
