Day 1: Uluru (Ayers Rock)
On arrival at Ayers Rock airport, you'll be transferred to your hotel (flights into Ayers Rock airport prior to 1:00pm). This afternoon, travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and Walpa Gorge. Spend time exploring the gorge and the unusual red conglomerate rock formations. View sunset at Uluru and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine. Overnight: Ayers Rock Resort, Desert Gardens Hotel
Day 2: Kata Tjuta (the Olgas)-Alice Springs
Enjoy sunrise at Uluru (Ayers Rock). Tour the base of Uluru including a guided walk into the Mutitjulu waterhole. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Drive around the base then visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Center. Later, travel to Alice Springs. Overnight: Alice Springs, Crowne Plaza
Day 3: Alice Springs-The Ghan Train
Travel west from Alice Springs along the spectacular West MacDonnell Ranges. Pass the John Flynn Memorial (founder of the Royal Flying Doctor Service). Stop at Simpsons Gap and enjoy morning tea among the beautiful Red Gums. Then walk through Angkerle (Standley Chasm). After lunch, depart for Alice Springs Desert Park. Visit the Nocturnal House and see a free-flying Birds of Prey presentation in the nature theatre. This afternoon, you will transfer to Alice Springs Railway Station to join The Ghan. Relax in the comfort of the train as the outback scenery passes by. Overnight: The Ghan Train, Gold Service (L,D)
Day 4: The Ghan-Darwin
On arrival at Darwin railway station you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure. Overnight: Darwin, Holiday Inn Esplanade (B)
Day 5: Darwin-Kakadu
Travel deep into Kakadu National Park. Take a guided walk to view Aboriginal rock art at Nourlangie Rock. After lunch, join the famous Yellow Water Billabong Cruise to observe saltwater crocodiles and prolific bird life. Visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Center and view the informative displays and exhibits. Overnight: Kakadu, Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn (L)
Day 6: Kakadu-Darwin
This morning stop at Ubirr with a short walk to view rock art. Join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River in search of saltwater crocodiles. With an Aboriginal guide and special permission of the local people, you will be able to go ashore in Arnhem Land. Visit the Bowali Visitor Center. There is the opportunity for an optional scenic flight (own expense) over the Arnhem Land Escarpment. Return journey to Darwin. Overnight: Darwin, Holiday Inn Esplanade (L)
Day 7: Depart Darwin
You will be transferred to Darwin airport for your flight (flights to depart anytime).
