Hotel: Omni Parker House | | Day 2 | Fredericton | Boston - Fredericton : We travel briefly along the New England coast through New Hampshire before heading inland through the woods of Maine. We cross the border into New Brunswick, Canada, and arrive in Fredericton, the provincial capital. Tonight enjoy the sights, tastes and sounds of Kings Landing Historic Settlement, followed by a Highlight Dinner with live music. (Full breakfast / Highlight dinner)
Hotel: Delta Fredericton | | Day 3 | Halifax | Fredericton - Halifax (2 nights) : Explore charming Fredericton, settled by British Loyalists fleeing the American Revolution in 1783. Our tour includes views of the University of New Brunswick, one of Canada's oldest universities, the beautiful Legislative Assembly building and the old Christ Church Cathedral. Later we skirt the shores of the Bay of Fundy, stopping at Fort Beausejour National Historic Site for a visit to this 18th century military outpost, important in the early colonial struggles of the region. This evening we arrive in dynamic Halifax, capital of Nova Scotia. (Full breakfast)
Hotel: Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites (2 nights) | | Day 4 | Halifax | Halifax sightseeing & at leisure : Today we explore the sights of this historic city, including a visit to the Citadel National Historic Site, and learn about the link between Halifax and the sinking of the Titanic. The afternoon is at leisure. Perhaps join us on an optional excursion to picturesque Peggy's Cove, one of the most charming fishing villages in the Maritimes, with wonderful views of the rocky shoreline and its famous red and white lighthouse. (Full breakfast) | | Day 5 | Baddeck | Halifax - Sherbrooke Village - Baddeck (2 nights) : Heading north, we stop at the Fisherman's Life Museum where we learn about the life of a coastal family in the early 1900?s. On to historic Sherbrooke Village for a visit to this living museum depicting a late 19th century mining and lumber village. Later we cross the Canso Causeway to Cape Breton Island. Traveling along the shores of scenic Bras d?Or Lake, we arrive in the quaint village of Baddeck. (Full breakfast / Dinner)
Hotel: Silver Dart Lodge (2 nights) | | Day 6 | Baddeck | Cape Breton Highlands National Park & Cabot Trail excursion : We start the day with a visit to the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site, where many of the great inventor's personal artifacts and mementos are on display. Later we follow the splendid Cabot Trail, one of the world's greatest scenic drives. Mile after stunning mile, this amazing coastline with jagged peaks rising out of the sea provides plenty of photo opportunities. We then continue along the trail to Cape Breton Highlands National Park, home to deep-walled canyons, sandy beaches and majestic cliffs. We return to Baddeck in the late afternoon. (Full breakfast) | | Day 7 | Charlottetown | Baddeck - Wood Islands Ferry - Charlottetown (2 nights) : Today our Tour Director will reveal a Hidden Treasure to us. We re-cross the Canso Strait and travel through Antigonish to the quaint fishing town of Pictou, one of the finest natural harbors in Canada. We cross the Northumberland Strait by ferry to Prince Edward Island. We then journey through the scenic Prince Edward Island countryside to charming Charlottetown. (Full breakfast)
Hotel: Rodd Charlottetown (2 nights) | | Day 8 | Charlottetown | Prince Edward Island sightseeing & at leisure : We are joined by a local guide and start our exploration of Prince Edward Island. We drive up to the north shore to visit Prince Edward Island National Park, an area of red sandstone cliffs, offshore sand bars, submerged estuaries, and some of Canada's longest and most popular beaches. In Cavendish we visit Green Gables, the lovely wooden farmhouse which inspired the setting for Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables. This evening why not attend an optional performance of the popular musical Anne of Green Gables? (Full breakfast) | | Day 9 | Moncton | Charlottetown - Shediac Bay - Moncton : We travel across the Confederation Bridge, the world's longest bridge over icecovered water, back to New Brunswick. At Shediac Bay, we board a lobstering cruise. We learn about the daily routine of lobstermen and the proper way to cook and crack lobsters. We finish with a freshly cooked, mouth-watering Lobster Highlight Lunch served on board (weather permitting.) We then visit a local winery and sample local fruit wines. We overnight in Moncton, a city known for its French and English heritage. (Full breakfast / Highlight lunch / Dinner)
Hotel: Delta Beausejour | | Day 10 | Saint John | Moncton - Hopewell Rocks - Saint John : This morning we drive along the scenic Bay of Fundy to see the Hopewell Rocks. We join a local guide and learn about these unusual flowerpot-shaped islands carved by the world's highest tides. We then travel from Moncton to historic Saint John, where we view the amazing Reversing Falls on the Saint John River, a unique phenomenon caused by the tremendous tides in the Bay of Fundy. A short city orientation tour includes a stop at the Old City Market before arriving at our hotel. (Full breakfast)
Hotel: Hilton Saint John | | Day 11 | Bar Harbor | St. John - Acadia National Park - Bar Harbor : We travel south and cross the border back into the US and the state of Maine. We arrive at the seaside village of Bar Harbor, home to the sumptuous mansions of America's wealthiest families who come to spend summers along the shores of Frenchman Bay. This afternoon we visit nearby Acadia National Park, the only national park in the New England states. Our tour takes us along the rugged coastline, past golden beaches to the top of Cadillac Mountain for panoramic views. Tonight we toast to our newfound friends and Maritime adventure at our Farewell Dinner. (Full breakfast / Farewell dinner)
Hotel: Bar Harbor Regency | | Day 12 | Depart Boston | Bar Harbor - Depart Boston : Enjoy one last look at the New England countryside as we journey south back to Boston. A complimentary transfer is provided to Boston International Airport and the tour hotel in Boston for passengers extending their stay. (Full breakfast)
