|
|
This vacation begins with three nights by the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Enjoy excursions to Amman and its Archaeological Museum, as well as to Jerash, Um Quais, and John the Baptist's Baptismal Archaeological Park in Bethany Beyond-the-Jordan, where Jesus was immersed in the baptismal springs. Next, travel to Moses' Mount Nebo, the Madaba Archaeological Museum, and Mukawir, where Salome danced and John the Baptist was imprisoned and beheaded. Continue via Wadi Mujib and the Crusader Castle of Kerak to Petra, where a full day of guided sightseeing in the "rose-red city" is included. In Lawrence of Arabia's Wadi Rum, enjoy a Jeep tour, then return to the Dead Sea. Fly from Amman to Cairo and meet your Egyptologist for a spectacular day of guided sightseeing: visit the Egyptian Museum, Memphis, Sakkara's "Stairway to the Sky" (the oldest of the pyramids), and Giza's Sphinx and the Great Pyramids.
