MONOGRAMS 2009: CANYON EXPLORER (VXA)
8 days from Las Vegas to Las Vegas

Experience the "Entertainment Capital of the World" and great national parks. In Las Vegas, relax by the pool, try your luck at the casinos, or take in a top Las Vegas show. Head north to Zion National Park to view its towering cliffs. Continue your journey in Bryce Canyon National Park, where erosion has shaped limestone, sandstone, and mudstone into thousands of spires, pinnacles, and mazes. Together these colorful formations are called "hoodoos." On to Capitol Reef National Park to see the "Waterpocket Fold," a 100-mile-long wrinkle in the earth's crust. Then, on to Arches National Park, famous for its 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch. Spend the night in Moab. Next stop is Canyonlands National Park, where the Colorado and Green Rivers divide the park into districts, each sharing a desert atmosphere while retaining its own unique character. A short drive to Mesa Verde National Park shows you some of the world's best-preserved "cliff dwellings." Drive through stunning Monument Valley with its definitive red mesas and buttes surrounded by empty desert. Continue on to Lake Powell and do some hiking, take a boat tour, or rent a boat and explore the lake on your own. For the grand finale, visit the majestic Grand Canyon. Carved by the Colorado River over millennia, it is now over a mile deep and 15 miles wide. Hike on one of the many trails or consider a helicopter ride over the canyon. Whatever you choose to do, the Grand Canyon is sure to make a lasting impression.
