Our short journey starts in Rwanda, deep in the heart of Africa, where we spend a day trekking to see endangered mountain gorillas in Parc National des Volcans - an overwhelming experience. A further free day allows us to choose between a series of optional treks, including another one to see the gorillas, one in search of rare golden monkeys or one to Dian Fossey's grave and research station. We return to Kigali before continuing to Tanzania, a country that boasts some of the most impressive national parks in Africa that are home to some of the best range of wildlife to be found in the world. Staying in lodges we visit Tarangire National Park before travelling east to world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater. Just 20 kilometres wide the crater floor teems with vast quantities of animals, including elephant, lion, cheetah and black rhino. From Ngorongoro we move to nearby Serengeti National Park. This is the quintessential Africa; where wide open plains stretch as far as the eye can see, supporting vast numbers of plains animals, including over two million wildebeest. Driving around the Serengeti Plains ranks as one of the major highlights in all of Africa. Finally we visit Lake Manyara National Park, one of many such soda lakes in east Africa's Great Rift Valley, for our final game drive and a stay at an incredible lodge. In northern Tanzania we travel in a 4WD vehicle with a specialist local guide, giving us the best possible insight into these famous parks.

Itinerary:
1 (Sat) Arrive in Kigali and transfer to Ruhengeri.2 Trek to see endangered mountain gorillas in Parc National des Volcans.3 Optional treks - second gorilla trek, trek to Dian Fossey's grave or trek to see golden monkeys. Drive to Kigali.4 Morning city tour including Genocide Museum, then fly from Kigali to Nairobi (flight not included).5 Private transfer from Nairobi to Arusha, then drive to Tarangire National Park for game drive.6 Morning game drive in Tarangire National Park before driving to Ngorongoro Conservation Area.7 Game drive in Ngorongoro Crater.8-9 Visit Olduvai Gorge, then drive to Serengeti National Park. Travel to lodge overlooking Lake Manyara.11 Morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, then drive to Arusha. Private transfer to Nairobi, where our trip ends on arrival (Tue).

Not Included: International flights including flight from Kigali to Nairobi, airport departure taxes, visas, meals unless specified in the itinerary, insurance, laundry, any optional tours or activities during free time, tips and items of a personal nature.
Notes: At time of booking, an additional gorilla trekking permit or hike to Dian Fossey's grave or trek to see golden monkeys may be booked at additional cost and are subject to availability. This extension can only be booked in conjunction with another Peregrine tour. Please note that the roads in Africa can be quite bad at times. The tarred roads are badly pot-holed in sections and the dirt roads can be very dusty and corrugated. We need to be prepared for a fair bit of bouncing around, on these roads. Infrastructure is also unpredictable and electricty may fail or be turned off at times. Lodges generally have back up generators in these situations.
