The City of Wellington is located in the southeastern Texas Panhandle and serves as the county seat of Collingsworth County.  Wellington is a full-service city providing a broad range of water, sewer, and solid waste services to its residents. Other services include community buildings, airport, parks, fire department, emergency medical services, law enforcement, street maintenance, animal control and code enforcement.  Incorporated in 1909, the city has had a great past and is working hard to ensure a bright future.

Water
Water production, treatment, and distribution services are provided.
Production – 1.7 million gallons per day capacity
Current maximum daily demand – 1,047,500 gallons per day
Current average daily demand – 472,516 gallons per day
Storage – 325,000 gallon elevated tank and 1,000,000 gallon ground storage reservoir

Sewer
The City of Wellington provides sewer collection and treatment services to its residents.
The current system includes a facultative lagoon, oxidation ponds and irrigation.
Permitted Limit – 325,000 gallons per day
Average Daily Flow – 160,000 gallons per day

Solid Waste Collection and Disposal
Solid waste collection services are provided to the residents of Wellington and Dodson.  The city owns and operates a Type 1-AE Landfill located 1.5 miles southwest of town.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10 a.m. – 12 noon and 1p.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. – 12 noon and 2p.m. – 5 p.m.

Police Protection
The Collingsworth County Sheriff’s Department provides police protection for the citizens of Wellington and Collingsworth County.  A consolidated law enforcement agency exists through an inter-local governmental agreement between the Sheriff’s Department, Collingsworth County and the City of Wellington.  The Sheriff’s Deparment is funded by the City and the County.

Fire Protection
Wellington boasts one of the finest staffed and equipped volunteer fire departments in this area.  The Wellington Volunteer Fire Department is located at 1505 8th Street.  The Fire Department is funded by the City and the County.  Fire Chief is  Kevin Hamby.

Code Enforcement
All code enforcement activities are administered by city staff with help from Consolidated Law Enforcement .

Streets and Drainage
The City is responsible for the maintenance of all streets within the city limits.  Problems associated with any street, curb, gutter or other drainage system should be reported to City Hall.

Ambulance Service
Wellington EMS Inc. provides emergency ambulance service throughout Wellington and Collingsworth County.
